“Tennis Mechanics” Wanted in Columbia
Do you have 2-4 hours every week or two that you might like to donate to USTA South Carolina to be a volunteer “Tennis Mechanic” at the state association office in the Harbison area of NW Columbia to keep the “wheels oiled” on the SC “tennismobile” that serves current tennis players in our state and supports efforts to find and recruit new players? John Sheffield and Peppers McBeth at the USTA SC office, who together constitute the association’s administrative department, could use some help answering phones, directing calls, making copies, preparing big mailings, stuffing training notebooks, entering data, assisting other staff in preparations for marketing and promotional projects, filing, obtaining office supplies, etc. Want to bring a friend to help and share the load – sounds great. Benefits include: learning how the association works, becoming part of a dynamic team that’s growing the game, spending time with other “tennis lovers,” and a free lunch (for 4-hour volunteers)! If you’re interested, contact Peppers via Email (click on her name) or via phone at 803-781-2574.
Welcome to Volunteer Central
USTA South Carolina has, since its inception in the 1970's, relied on volunteers to create, promote and administer programs and events. We continue to strive to recruit, train and serve an army of over 150 volunteers in state association affairs. We are in the process of developing a clearing house for these activities to which program leaders can go to find new volunteers or create/write new job descriptions and to which prospective new volunteers can go to find the best role for them to fill. Look to this Web Site in the months to come to get updates on this Volunteer Central service. If you're interested in helping develop this organizational process, write new job descriptions or give suggestions, please contact Michelle Campanella. If you would like to volunteer, just fill out this form.
