USTA SC partners with SCAA

USTA South Carolina is excited to partner with the South Carolina Afterschool Alliance (SCAA) in a national grant from USTA.  The SCAA’s mission is to increase awareness and sustainability of quality after school programs, and both SCAA and USTA SC feel that tennis is a great way to help give kids a healthy, fun, enriching experience.

Initially 10 communities will have tennis programs through this grant, which will expand on an annual basis to include 30 sites statewide by 2015.  The partnership has three parts: SCAA who will provide the kids and the after school programs, the USTA who will provide funding and equipment grants, and USTA SC who will provide staff training workshops and support.

As part of the partnership USTA SC is hoping to help the SCAA start Kids’ Tennis Clubs in many communities and to transition the youth who participate in the programs into Jr. Team Tennis leagues and Rising Star tournaments.

If you’re interested in finding out more information on bringing after school tennis to your community, contact Rebecca Martell at 803-781-2574 or at martell@sctennis.com.
