Florence joins Adopt-A-Unit effort

The Florence Tennis Association was the eighth South Carolina tennis community to participate in the USTA's Adopt-A-Unit program. The FTA adopted the 133rd Military Police Unit that is headquartered in Timmonsville, SC and will deploy from Fort Bliss, Texas to Afghanistan on Monday, November 14th. The FTA coordinated collection of items, boxing and packaging, and shipping of items to the unit. In turn, USTA Serves, the National Charitable Foundation of the USTA, will send portable tennis equipment to the adopted unit with instructions and educational information on tennis.
The Florence Tennis Association took advantage of a special USTA South Carolina grant to cover the cost of shipping the care packages overseas.
