And the US Open raffle winner is...

June 26, 2015 09:49 AM

Lee Bowers, 71, has played tennis for the past 60 years.

But he has never been one of tennis' best events, the US Open.

This fall, Bowers and his wife of 46 years, Em, will change that thanks to the South Carolina Tennis Patrons Foundation, the charitable arm of USTA South Carolina.

Bowers has won the US Open "dream package," the prize from the recent raffle drawing run by SCTPF. Bowers' name was drawn earlier this month during a ceremony at the USTA South Carolina office. (Video below.)

The dream package includes roundtrip airfare for two to New York; three nights at the Grand Hyatt New York; invitations for two to the president’s box; and two tickets to Arthur Ashe Stadium Loge Seats.

Bowers, of the Rock Hill area, received a raffle ticket in exchange for a $100 donation to the SCTPF. He and his wife are looking forward to seeing the best tennis players in the world in person.

"This should be a good time for us," Bowers said.
