Volunteers needed for SPUD Tournament

The third annual SPUD (Special Populations Unified Doubles) Tennis Tournament will take place in Belton, SC, on Friday and Saturday, June 22nd - 23rd.  Tournament organizers expect 75 to 100 special athletes from six or more states. This will the second consecutive year that this event has more than 50% growth.
The format of the SPUD Tennis Tournament is unified doubles, matching a special athlete with a unified partner in doubles competition.  To help make this event as enjoyable and memorable for the athletes, organizers hope to have a partner for each athlete on Saturday and Sunday.
"The first SPUD tourney started out as an event to provide another opportunity for the athletes to have fun playing tennis and make new friends," says Jack Barker, tournament organizer.  "With all that accomplished, each year has been bigger and better.  This year, our third year, will have five or more states involved with close to 100 smiling athletes.  But we need volunteers to help assure that the athletes have another enjoyable tournament."
With hopes of nearly 100 volunteers, your help is needed.  If you would be interested in volunteering your time, please contact Jack Barker at
