USTA South Carolina Tennis On Campus Championship

College of Charleston
College of Charleston earned their fifth state championship this past weekend at the eighth annual USTA South Carolina Tennis On Campus Championship. Although they practice at the Patriots Point facility, the College of Charleston looked right at home at the Charleston Tennis Center. This year’s tournament had 11 teams entered representing the College of Charleston, Clemson, Coastal Carolina, Furman, Middle Tennessee State University and the University of South Carolina.
Just two weeks ago the College of Charleston had a strong finish at the USTA Fall Invitational tournament on Hilton Head Island. There they lost a very close match to Duke and were honored with the Sportsmanship Award. The USTA South Carolina championship gave them redemption.
The College of Charleston was nearly perfect winning 28 of 30 line-ups played. Not only did they take home the bragging rights of the championship, but also the coveted and playful "Team Challenge" award. To earn this the College of Charleston outperformed other clubs with cheering, facility clean-up, sportsmanship, and team spirit along with submitting a trick shot video, "bag check" video and the clencher – a team Gangnam Style performance.
