Official Name: USTA Jr. Team Tennis


Description:
USTA Jr. Team Tennis is the largest Jr. recreational tennis league in the United States with over 68,000 participants’ nationwide. Often USTA Jr. Team Tennis is compared to Little League Baseball, youth soccer, and adult league tennis as the program offers children the opportunity to develop their individual and team tennis skills in a fun, yet competitive atmosphere. The USTA Southern Section has 35% of the nation’s youth team tennis players.

Minimum Requirements:
   • Name League USTA Jr. Team Tennis
   • 4 teams in a league, 6 players per team, 3 boys and 3 girls
   • 6-8 week league season, 1 practice and 1 match per week, 3 dual matches
   • Membership based program. Participants must be USTA members. 
   • Players must be registered on the TennisLink registration system.
Format:
Local format is up to the coach or area league coordinator. However, to prepare for advancing to championships, it is recommended that the following format is followed as it will be the same format as the USTA South Carolina Jr. Team Tennis State Championships: one girls’ and one boys’ singles, one girls’ and one boys’ doubles, and one mixed doubles match. The total number of games won for each individual match determines a winning team. Local leagues may consist of all boys, all girls, or co-ed teams depending on your particular program, but only co-ed teams are eligible for advancement. The QuickStart format will be used for all 8 and under and 10 and under levels.  
 
Levels of Play:
USTA Jr. Team Tennis offers the following levels based on age and NTRP rating:

8 & Under, 10 & Under, 12 & Under, 14 & Under, and 18 & Under
Beginner: 2.0 NTRP and Below
Intermediate: 3.0 NTRP and Below
Advanced: 3.5 NTRP and Above

Program Incentives:
• Coordinator Stipend – League coordinators may receive a stipend based on the number of teams in the league.  A stipend application must be filled out and submitted with required documentation.
