Quick Reference Guide Complete Kids Team Tennis Program Guide 8 & Under Guidelines 10 & Under Guidelines

Justine Henin and Tim Henman played it as kids, and Roger Federer promotes it in Switzerland. Now tennis facilities throughout the US are introducing Kids Team Tennis, a method of playing and teaching tennis with kids 4-10 years old. The program is modeled after formats used in European countries such as Belgium, Germany and England where juniors learn and play tennis on a scaled down court using modified equipment.

Kids Team Tennis adopts principles that other sports such as soccer, basketball and baseball have implemented for youth participants – modifying equipment and court dimensions. The power of Kids Team Tennis is that it enables children to play quickly and successfully while incorporating tactical awareness through play. Using a systematic progression of court size, balls and rackets, Kids Team Tennis is more fun for players and increases skill development faster than traditional teaching methods.

Kids Team Tennis is a new recreational play format to reach out to new players and better engage current players at the 4-10 year old age within the USTA’s Jr. Team Tennis program. USTA South Carolina offers the following support and resources to Kids Team Tennis programs.
