First Competition Training Center Concludes

This year's first session of the Competition Training Center series of High-Performance training camps for SC’s top-ranked 12-14 year old players was held at Topspin Racquet & Swim Club on Sunday, August 26.

Players from around the state gathered to train and further their development both physically and mentally with coaches Mark Smith, Cornelius Jordan, and Carlos Lozano for this seven hour training session.  Activities of this session focused on footwork, utilizing hand-feeding techniques in drills, as well as an emphasis on the theme during the afternoon session of coached match play.

There are three remaining sessions of this year's Competition Training Center listed below.  Advanced players in the 12-14 age groups are welcome to submit an application for consideration for a spot in this High-Performance program.  Please click here for additional information regarding the application process or contact Jessica Amick (amick@sctennis.com) for further information.

Saturday, September 15: Live to Play, Mt. Pleasant
Sunday, October 7: Cayce Tennis & Fitness Center, Cayce
Saturday/Sunday November 17-18: Kiawah Island, Charleston

The Player Development Committee works to develop junior players in South Carolina by offering training opportunities including CTCs, 10 and Under camps, the Van der Meer All-Star Camp, and providing coaches for the Southern Closed tournaments.  For more information on how you can get involved, whether it be volunteering on-site at a training session or helping the committee determine the best way to develop our players, please contact Jessica Amick (amick@sctennis.com).
