South Carolina 10 & Under Tennis Circuits

Three separate 10 & Under Tennis Circuits are in full swing throughout South Carolina.  The circuits are a group of local 10 & Under tournaments hosted in Upstate South Carolina, the Midlands and in the Charleston area.
These one-day, Level V tournaments provide young players with a great starting point to get involved in competitive tennis.  Tournaments are played using modified equipment, courts, and scoring.
"The 10 & Under Circuits provide players the opportunity to compete in a series of events locally, which is one of our main goals for the younger players.  They should have the choice to play a tournament in their hometown, which keeps travel costs down and gives them a chance to meet other players and parents from the area", said Jessica Amick, USTA SC Junior Competition Coordinator.  "Combined with the great tennis programming in these areas, including Jr. Team Tennis and beginner clinics, it’s a great value for players and parents with the first-year-free USTA membership and the first tournament reimbursement program."

Kids around the world have been successfully playing tennis using this type of format for years and for the first time ever the kids tennis rules for 10 and Under play in the US have changed and kids come out the winners.
New rules for youth tennis have been passed by the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and the United States Tennis Association (USTA) that require all sanctioned 10-and-under tournaments be played using slower-moving and lower-bouncing balls, shorter and lighter racquets, and on smaller courts. These kids tennis rule changes are significant for children 10 and under, as they will make it easier for more kids to get in the game and, by making tennis more fun from the start, to stay in the game as well.
