The days are winding down until the 41st Family Circle Cup (FCC) Tournament in Charleston, March 30th – April 7th.  Featuring 17 of the top 40 women in tennis, this year’s tournament is sure to please everyone.  It will be especially memorable for eight players from St. George Jr. Team Tennis, as they will have the chance to play a vital role in the WTA tournament.

For the past two months, these young adults have been training to become members of the 2013 FCC Ball Crew.  The task is a daunting one, as these kids will face big responsibilities.  It is up to them to not just keep the flow of the match going but other jobs we sometimes forget about.  Whether it is bringing Serena Williams her towel, holding the umbrella over Samantha Stosur, or presenting flowers to the tournament winner, they really have their work cut out for them.  This is why the St. George kids have completed a rigorous training routine to ensure they are top-notch by the start of the tournament.

EmilyMichaelTesting their ball crew skills for the first time are St George JTT players: Blair Floyd (14&U team), Michael Chassereau, Nassim Benaissa, and Emily Floyd (all 18&U Team).  They will be joined by their friends returning for a second year of service as FCC "Veteran Ball Crew," including: Courtney Simmons, Angel Shuler, Tiffany Wallace, and Maia Wilson (14&U team).  All eight of these small-town St George players are looking forward to the thrill of being on-court with some of today’s biggest tennis stars.

We look forward to hearing about their adventure at the 2013 Family Circle Cup.  There’s no telling what interesting stories these kids will have, so be sure to check back after the tournament to get the inside scoop from the Ball Crew!
