Dennis Van der Meer Awarded Honorary Doctorate

Dennis Van der Meer, founder and president of the Professional Tennis Registry and the Van der Meer TennisUniversity, was awarded an honorary doctorate of science degree from the University of Greenwich, England, Oct. 29, at a graduation and award ceremony in the Old Royal Naval College's Chapel of St. Peter and St. Paul. The Greenwich University chancellor, Lord Holme of Cheltenham, presided, with speeches by the vice chancellor, Baroness Blackstone. Among those attending the ceremony to honor Van der Meer's lifetime contributions to tennis were his wife Pat, PTR/UK Director Clive Carrigan and Dr. Mark Goss-Sampson of the University's Centre for Sport and Exercise Sciences.
