BMW Combo Championships

Eleven South Carolina state champion teams went into the finals of the BMW Combo Southern Section Championships in Mobile AL Jan. 21-24 and six came out winners in the nine-state competition. More than 1,700 players on 164 teams competed.

SC teams won championships in:
Adult Women's 5.0, Lady Nets, Greenview Park, Columbia, Tara Green, captain
Adult Women's 6.5, Pavilion, Taylors, Kathryn Hennessy, captain
Senior Women's 7.5, Grande Dunes/Litchfield, Myrtle Beach, Jackie Carpenter, captain
Adult Men's 6.5, Greer, Mark Harvey, captain
Adult Men's 8.5, Wildewood/Woodcreek, Columbia, Chuck Garnett, captain
Senior Men's 7.5, Hunter's Creek Old Bulls, Greenwood, Don Grigsby, captain.

Sectional second-place teams were:
Adult Women's 7.5, Sets Appeal, Parklane, Columbia, Sarah Massalon, captain
Adult Women's 9.5, The Right Combo, Lexington, Natalie Huff, captain
Senior Women's 5.5, Spindle Tree, Seneca, Betty Long, captain
Adult Men's 5.5, Hobos, Lexington, John Davis, captain
Senior Men's 8.5, Sportsclub, Greenville, John Groce, captain.

Teams from Tennessee and Louisiana won three championships each; Mississippi and Alabama two each; Arkansas and Kentucky one each.
