2 SC Teams Win Southern Super Senior Championships

April 11, 2005 08:41 PM

Two South Carolina women's teams swept through the USA League 2004 Southern Section Super Seniors Championships Apr. 1-3 and a men's and women's team lost in the finals in Pelham AL.

The two champions and one runnerup were from Hilton Head Island leagues. Berkeley Hall 4.0/60s Women and Spring Lake Volley Dollies 3.0/70s won titles. The 3.0/70s Men's South Beach Boys lost in the finals as did the 3.5 Women's/60s Nell's Gals of Lexington.

In the 60s age division, the Berkeley Hall (Bluffton - 4.0 level) and the Nell's Gals (Lexington - 3.5 level) women had the option of advancing to the 2005 National Invitational in Kansas City next month or the first-ever 2005 National Super Senior Championships in California in October. "That was a no-brainer," Captain Anne Clemmitt said. Both teams have elected to go to California. Nationals for the Super Senior 70s age division do not exist at this point.
