See Past Champions in Action

July 18, 2006 04:37 PM

Remember the classic days of tennis? The days when men where gentlemen and women were ladies…. The days of good sportsmanship and low key personalities… The peaceful days when the loudest noise on the court was John McEnroe screaming at the chair umpire…. Those days are coming back to the Carolinas. The Outback Champions Series will kick off at the Palisades in Charlotte, NC on September 20. Some of tennis’ all time classic (if not always classy) players will be there. Jim Courier and John McEnroe will face each other, and a strong field in the round-robin tournament in a quest for series points and a $48,000 first prize. The exclusive series is for players who have at minimum reached a grand slam singles final, been ranked in the top five in the world or played singles on a championship Davis Cup Team.
The Charlotte stop is not the only stop for the Outback Champions Series in the USTA Southern Section, however. The champs will be playing in Memphis TN on October 4-8. If you’re interested in attending the Charlotte event; matches start at 1:30pm and 6:30pm and tickets are available by calling 877-332-TIXX or logging on to www.championsseriestennis.com. USTA South Carolina is very excited about this event, and we hope to see you there.
