Second Half Sectional Tournament Results

The second half of the 2006 USTA League Tennis Southern Sectional Championships have come to a close as twelve teams were crowned League Tennis Southern Sectional Champions. The final round of competition was finished in spite of the threat of thunderstorms. Teams from South Carolina had the best showing among the nine southern states taking home three sectional titles. Combined with the first half results, your South Carolina teams took home four titles from the USTA Southern Sectional Tournament. You can see pictures of the first half’s winner and finalist here.

Including first half play, over 2,000 players will have participated in the 2006 Sectional Championships. In full draws, two groups of five teams compete in round robin play with the winner of each group advancing to the finals. In total, 430 team matches comprised of 1,626 individual matches will be played.

This year’s event has drawn the top 200 teams from throughout Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee. The teams, which represent various clubs, parks, recreational departments and organizations, have finished at the top of their local leagues and are now vying for a chance to represent the USTA Southern Section at the USTA League presented by CHRYSLER National Championships.
