Laurens Cuts the Ribbon on New Courts

August 30, 2006 09:47 PM

The Clinton-Laurens-Newberry Tennis Association and USTA South Carolina are proud to inform you of the grand opening of six new courts in Laurens. On Saturday August 26, local and state dignitaries gathered to celebrate the ribbon cutting on the new courts. The Courts were build, in part, with a grant of nearly $43,000 from the USTA Public Facility Fund. The event included speeches by Laurens Mayor Sharon Brownlee, State Senator Danny Verdin, and the proceedings were covered by WLBG 860 AM. The facility includes six courts in the signature US Open blue. The first match after the ribbon cutting was an exhibiting match between State Senator Danny Verdin and Laurens Parks and Recreation Director Jason Pridgen. USTA South Carolina congratulates the Clinton-Laurens-Newberry Tennis Association, and hopes that all the tennis enthusiasts in the area enjoy the courts.
