USC Women's Tennis Shines

The South Carolina women's tennis team won five singles titles at the Southern Intercollegiate Championships on Sunday October 29, in Columbia, S.C. The Gamecocks also took home three doubles titles at the event on Saturday. Ana Marija Zubori improved to 11-1 this fall by winning the A-1 singles flight against Daria Petrovic from N.C. State 6-1, 6-1. Laura Ganzer defeated teammate Natasa Vuckovic in the final of A-2 by a 6-4, 7-6(6) count, while Megan McGavock was a 6-2, 6-0 winner over Kristen Bleakley of N.C. State in the championship of the B-2 draw. Other winners for USC included Miranda Gutierrez in C-1 and Grace Blakely in C-2.
In doubles, the team of Gira Schofield and Zubori won 8-6 versus Armstrong Atlantic's Nazaruk-Stupak in the A-1 championship. The team of Ganzer-McGavock posted an 8-3 victory over Dahlback-Haggstrom from Armstrong Atlantic for the B-1 title. Blakely-Gutierrez defeated College of Charleston's Becker-Dowse 9-8(5) in the B-2 final.
