With a new year on the calendar we begin a new year in Junior Team Tennis. This season USTA South Carolina will follow one team as they journey through the season. The team is in the 12 and under division, and is coached by Michelle Campanella who has two children on the team. This is Coach Campanella's second season coaching and while some players on the team played last season, many are new to the game.
Coach Campanella is "very excited about the season. It's always fun to see the kids again and watch them as they learn throughout the season." Practice is always a good chance to learn, but on Coach Campanella's team it's also a chance to have fun with your teammates and get some good exercise. The team engages in many activities; from purely tennis based drills such as practicing their volley, to fun fitness based games such as team tag.
Coach Campanella wasn't the only one excited about the new season, however. Many of the players stayed after practice, putting their lessons to work in a hit-around with their teammates. One player, when told it was time to leave by her mother, protested that she "didn't want to leave" because she "loved tennis." Hopefully that feeling will last throughout here life.
