Summer Time is Tennis Time in Willington

June 14, 2007 01:13 PM

The Mims Community Center in Willington, SC has added an exciting new element as part of their summer camp agenda. For the first time tennis has been introduced through in their summer camp. They held morning sessions for 20, 6-10 year olds and afternoon sessions for 15, 11-13 year olds. The two week long clinic will conclude with an exciting line up of games, exercises, prizes, food and fun.
The Savannah Lakes tennis community was a big supporter of the instruction and provided each participant with a used racquet collected locally. Additional assistance was given by local supporters, businesses and USTA South Carolina. Gloria Bramble and Andre Duhaime organized the repair of the Mims Center Tennis Courts back to playing condition with help from the Mims Center personnel. The program was coordinated by Eleanor Gilchrist and Belinda Jameson. Others helping from the Village were Terry O’Reilly and Les Sulyi repairing the courts, and Cynthia and Pang Ma, Ora and Jerome Poole, Rose and Steven Sulyi, and Judy and Ron Younts , Evelyn Reid, Eric Turman, Michelle Hanlin and Charles Jennings were all volunteer instructors. All deserve a “well done” for donating their time and efforts and a special thanks to Andre Duhaime for driving this opportunity into a reality.
