New Kids Program in Aiken

August 23, 2007 06:08 PM

Aiken area kids have a fun new way to learn tennis. Dawn and Mark Clavert are running a new Kids Team Tennis Program at the O'Dell Weeks tennis center. This public program uses modified equipment, such as smaller racquets, low compression balls, and lower nets, to help kids learn tennis in a format that suits their smaller bodies and developing coordination. The program already has drawn four teams in the first season. In fact tennis is growing so much in Aiken that Dawn Calvert has been appointed a USTA Tennis Ambassador for the O'Dell Weeks tennis center. Tennis Ambassadors are volunteers affiliated with a certain facility who are knowledgeable about USTA programs and help players find their niche in the array of USTA Leagues and programming.
