Lexington Tennis Center Holds QuickStart Tennis Training

September 8, 2008 04:36 PM

About 35 people were trained, and entertained, by Jorge Andrew, USPTA and PTR Master Pro and certified USTA QuickStart Trainer, with help on-court from Michelle Campanella, USTA SC Programs Manager, and Steve Zalinski, USTA Tennis Service Representative for SC, today at LCTC in one of the biggest QuickStart Tennis Workshops offered to-date in the country. Thanks must also go to Karen Holzschuh, LATA Jr. Team Tennis Program Coordinator, who spent many hours promoting and registering participants in the months before the event. With simple tennis wisdom, catchy teaching phrases, and a wonderful touch of humor, mixed with a lot of hands-on practice, recreational volunteer trainers from Parks Departments, Boys & Girls Clubs, Junior Team Tennis programs and after-school programs in the Midlands, Spartanburg, Charleston and other SC communities were given 3 hours of intense, on-court training, all backed-up by a comprehensive, user-friendly website, http://consumers.quickstarttennis.com/, which features information about the general format, age-appropriate court, ball and racket sizes, purchasing of equipment, and videos of games and drills, equipment set-up.
