November 25, 2008 03:12 PM

A few lucky Jr. Team Tennis players gathered from across South Carolina on November 22nd to start their training as ball kids for the December 13th Rock-N-Racquets tennis exhibition at the Colonial Life Arena in Columbia. The kids will have one more training before they take the court as part of the Rock-N-Racquets event which will feature Andy Roddick, Serena Williams, John Isner, and Caroline Wozniaki who will play both singles and mixed doubles matches.

The 12 ball kids were selected from 2008 Jr. Team Tennis participants by their local coordinator. The kids will receive a free uniform for the event and their parents will receive free tickets so they can watch their children in action.

The first of two 90 minute training sessions was conducted at Lexington County Tennis Complex with the kids learning the basics for the first hour and then instructor Graham Cox, USTA SC Community Development Director, put on a mini-match so the kids could put their knowledge into action. The ball kids will have a second training session on December 6th and then will be in action on December 13th. For tickets to the Rock-N-Racquets event simply visit
