Marcinkowska Named to USTA International Women’s 40 Tennis Team

Miami, FL – The United States Tennis Association has named Renata Marcinkowska, Rock Hill, SC to the United States 2009 Women’s 40 Young Cup International Tennis team.


Upon hearing of her selection, Marcinkowska commented "It is my biggest honor to represent the US on an international team." Joining Marcinkowska on the Young Cup Team is Vesna McKenna, Hollywood, FL, Carolyn Wei, Berkley CA and Captain Rachel Gale when they compete in the 2009 International Federation World Team Championships in Mallorca, Spain April 27 – May 2, 2009.

Marcinkowska, ranked number one in the world in women’s 35 singles in 2004 and 2005 is the 2008 World Champion in women’s 35 doubles. She is a two time winner of the US Clay Courts women’s 40 singles in 2007 and 2008. Marcinkowska has represented the US five times in international team competition.

More than 700 of the best tennis players in the world, ages 35 to 55, will participate in the ITF Seniors World Team Championships in Spain. Following the team competition, many of the players will compete in the ITF Individual World Championships.

The United States Tennis Association owns and stages the US Open and selects the men and women’s teams that compete in major Davis Cup, Fed Cup and Olympics games competition as well as senior international team competitions. The USTA is the national governing body for the sport of tennis in America and is a not-for-profit organization with more than 670,000 members. It invests all of its resources to promote and develop the growth of tennis, from the grass roots to international individual and professional levels.
