MCTA Impresses at Workshop

June 12, 2009 01:23 PM

The Rock Hill Tennis Center hosted a Recreational Coaches Workshop on Saturday, June 6. Over two dozen potential coaches and volunteers attended, with the event drawing participants from as far away as Atlanta. A recreational Coaches Workshop is an interactive on-court training program designed for coaches and teachers working with recreational players.

The Rock Hill event’s topics included QuickStart Tennis, interscholastic drills and large-group management. There were door prizes and lunch for participants, who were very enthusiastic about the event. Katherine Hearn was very impressed by the “great training session and hospitality,” and Robert Peterson was thankful for the opportunity to learn more “drills and skills.” With the newfound knowledge the participants will return to their communities to coach new tennis players, and young players, especially concentrating on underprivileged youth.
