USTA South Carolina and the Columbia Tennis League are excited to announce Jamie Austin as the new Jr. Team Tennis Coordinator for the Columbia area. She will take over this role from Kathy Foster who has held this position since 2007. Austin is a resident of Columbia who has an extensive tennis background, which includes three State Championship titles and one Southern Sectional Championship title. Originally from Charleston, Austin received her BS in Chemistry and a Master of Health Administration Degree from the University of South Carolina. Currently, she is a Medical Systems Coordinator at BlueCross BlueShield of SC.

In her volunteer position as JTT Coordinator, Austin looks to grow the game of tennis in the Columbia area through the Jr. Team Tennis program. Having found the game later in life, she wants to give the kids of her community an opportunity to take up the sport she loves so much at a younger age so they may enjoy all the health and social benefits she has enjoyed as an adult. One of her first tasks will be to extend the program into the public tennis facilities and parks, and find local volunteers to support that effort. If you are interested in a volunteer role with the Jr. Team Tennis program of Columbia or would like to find out more information, please contact Jamie at

Across the nation tennis participation has increased nearly 50% since 2002, according to the Sporting Goods Manufacturers Association. In South Carolina, Jr. Team Tennis participation has increased by 26% since 2006. Columbia has one of the largest Jr. Team Tennis programs in the state, and Austin looks to continue in the successful tradition of the position.
