Wild Dunes Resort Hosts Singles League State Challenge

December 7, 2009 04:24 PM

The Second Annual South Carolina Singles League State Challenge was held this weekend at Wild Dunes Resort.  110 players participated at the 3.0, 3.5 and 4.0 men’s and women’s levels.

Friday night’s captains meeting covered a Welcome and congratulations from Charly Rasheed, Director of Tennis at Wild Dunes, and Gary Link, UPTA Singles League Coordinator, and USTA SC State Singles League Coordinator.  Weather, rules and alternate weather plans were discussed after captains’ packets and gifts were received.

Saturday started out wet and cold with play beginning at 3:00 pm. At Wild Dunes and Snee Farms Country Club.  8 game pro sets were necessary to complete Saturday’s scheduled play by 10 pm.

Sunday, although cold, was sunny and play was competitive.  Champions and finalist were crowned.  The players had a great time.  Many thanks to Charly and his hard working staff for getting the courts up and playable.

Hope to see you all at the 2010 South Carolina Singles State Challenge.
