All award nominations must be in by September 1 unless otherwise noted.

John Newcomb Pro of the Year - The pro whose contributions to South Carolina tennis, including involvement with USTA South Carolina, SCPTA and his/her community, have been outstanding for the year.

Pete Conklin Official of the Year - Person who has made outstanding contributions to the cause of tennis officiating at state, sectional, and national (if applicable) levels.

Community Tennis Association (CTA) of the Year - CTA which has supported USTA South Carolina through USTA Tennis programs, tournaments, leagues, volunteer work, etc.

Adult/Senior Tournament of the Year – Adult and/or senior tournament which offers outstanding organization and officiating on the court and amenities off the court.

Junior Tournament of the Year – Same criteria as above, but for juniors.

Tennis Family of theYear – Family that has done the most to promote tennis in South Carolina through playing, coaching, officiating, volunteering, administrative work, etc.

Coach of the Year – High School or college coach who has an outstanding record of producing top players, good students, and successful teams.

Community Service Award – Person or organization that has devoted significant time to promote an outstanding tennis program beneficial to the community and USTA South Carolina.

Adult Female/Male player of the Year – Players who have an outstanding year which will be reflected in state, sectional, and national ranking.

Junior Girl/Boy Player of the Year – Same criteria as above, but for juniors.

League Volunteer of the Year – This person must possess an outstanding dedication and service to the South Carolina League Tennis programs. Must be a motivator to players, league coordinators, and provide enthusiastic leadership with special involvement in promoting tennis at the grassroots level. (NOTE: This award is usually given to the person selected by the USTA SC League Department.)

Most Improved Junior Girl (Kimberly Hampton Award)/BoyJunior players who make the most improvement in their game with consideration given to their improvement in state, section, and national (if applicable) rankings.

Mark Hodgin Junior Sportsmanship Girl/Boy Award – Junior players who demonstrate behavior that is considered courteous and exemplary both on and off the court. (Opinions of tournament directors and referees are important for this Award.)

Media Award – Individual (writer, broadcaster, advertising person) or company (newspaper, magazine, TV station, radio station, advertising company) that makes an outstanding contribution to reporting or promoting tennis in South Carolina.

Company of the Year – Company which supports USTA South Carolina programs and tournaments financially and/or with its resources or products.

Lucy Garvin Volunteer of the Year Award – Volunteer who best exemplifies Lucy Garvin’s outstanding characteristics of dedication, fair play and devotion to the betterment of the game. (NOTE: This award is not usually decided upon by the Awards Committee.)

Wilton McKinney Award – Junior players who best exemplifies traits of Wilton McKinney; outstanding play, exemplary sportsmanship, positive attitude, dedicated work ethic and community/school support. (NOTE: This award is traditionally given to a player in the 18s who has just completed his/her final year of Junior tennis.)

Special Olympic Volunteer of the Year – The person who contributes the most for the furthermost of Special Olympics Tennis in the state and provides time and leadership in this capacity.

Jr. Team /Kids Team Tennis Coordinator of the Year award – The person who contributes the most to further USTA Jr Team Tennis in their area and across the state if applicable.

Member Club of the Year – The USTA Member Club that has supported USTA South Carolina through USTA Tennis programs, tournaments, leagues, volunteer work, etc.
