Bud Spencer of Mt. Pleasant served as USTA South Carolina President and Chairman of the Board in 2004 and 2005. He has been active as a member of the Board of Directors since 2000. He currently serves as Chairman of the South Carolina Tennis Patrons Foundation, a charitable association that supports the sport of tennis in SC.

Spencer has been active in USTA activities for over 15 years, from the local to the national level. He has served as Chairman of the State Presidents Group for USTA Southern in 2005, currently serves as Chairman of USTA Southern’s Adult League Committee, and has served on numerous special study groups at the Section level. Additionally, he is as a member of the USTA National League Committee and is Chairman of USTA League Program Development. He also has served as a tennis official for adult and junior tournaments.

Spencer graduated from The Citadel with a BS degree in Civil Engineering. His MS in Civil Engineering was obtained from the University of Missouri at Rolla. He served 28 years in the US Army, retiring in 1989 as a Colonel. He and his wife, Susan, have two children and four grandchildren.
