This is Cornelius Jordan’s first year serving the USTA South Carolina Board of Directors. He is Director of the Country club of Spartanburg where he has been since 1995. Jordan is the Chair for Player Development and also President of the South Carolina Pro Association.
Jordan is a native of London, England and played college tennis at Cowley College in Kansas where he was an All American during his team’s 1991 National Championship. He was also an academic All American.
He has worked extensively with top level juniors and has a top-notch junior program. He has been the South Carolina Coach at Southerns, Davis Cup, and All Star Camp. In 2005, Jordan was named South Carolina Pro of the Year.
Jordan has been Tournament Director for the Country Club of Spartanburg Pro Invitational for the past ten years. In that time, the tournament has gone from a $10,000 event to this years $50,000 event. The tournament attracts players from all over the world and was also the winner of the 2005 Adult Tournament of the Year.
His seven year old son Phillip and wife Barbara enjoy playing tennis. Phillip played his first tournament this past year and Barbara plays 3.5 league tennis.
