This is Dodie Hanchett's first term of service on the USTA South Carolina Board.   Also, this is her first year serving on USTA SC's Adult Competition Council.  She was employed by USTA Tennessee as their State League Coordinator for 14 years and a Local League Coordinator in Knoxville, Tennessee before that.  She's been involved with USTA Leagues for over twenty years.

Hanchett also volunteers with USTA Southern where she serves as a member of the USTA Southern Adult League Committee, chairs the USTA Southern Sectional Championship Committee and chairs the NTRP Medical Appeals Committee.  She's involved with each of the four Southern Sectional USTA League Championships as part of her sectional responsibilities.  She also received an invitation by the National Administer to work at the 2000 (5.0), 2001 (5.0), 2002 (4.0 Sr.) & 2005 (4.0 Sr.) USTA League National Championships.
Advancing to a USTA League National Championship on a 4.5 Adult women’s team in 1988 (the team came in third, losing to the team that won) was a highlight of Hanchett's league career as a player.  Her available time to play tennis has suffered since then but she still enjoys the sport (of a lifetime) and the many friends she's made.
Hanchett is a native of (Southern) California and it was only natural to move strait across the States and stay in the “Southern” region.

She and her husband Byron live in Spartanburg, SC and are members of The Westside Club.  They both took up tennis in Southern California while living in San Clemente and have loved it every since.  Tennis proved to be a great introduction tool when they moved to new areas over the years.
