Ed Sprenger, from Florence SC, got involved in tennis in 2001 when he was asked to feed balls at a tennis clinic one of his daughters attended.  That soon led to league tennis, which led in turn to the job of Membership Chairman of the Florence Tennis Association.  Since then, he has served as FTA Vice President and President. Ed has also served as tournament director for several adult and junior tournaments and he helps the FTA Tournament Committee coordinate the FTA Boys High School Tournament and FTA Girls High School Tournament. He feels his greatest accomplishment in tennis is being part of the FTA’s leadership in 2007 when it was named National Community Tennis Association of the Year and recognized for the second time as South Carolina CTA of the Year.  Ed is currently part of a committee working with city staff and local business leaders on the design and construction of large state-of-the-art tennis complex for Florence.

Ed has been a member of the USTA-SC Awards Committee, chaired the  Communications and Marketing Committee, and presented on community tennis at the State and National Community Tennis Development Workshops.

Ed attended Clemson University before graduating from Francis Marion College in 1987 with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems Management. He currently works for McLeod Health, Incorporated in Florence as Personal Systems Supervisor.  Ed is married to Melanie and has two wonderful daughters.
