Touchstone Energy and Mid-Carolina Electric’s Women Involved in Rural Electrification (WIRE) chapter are sponsoring a charity tennis tournament to benefit local breast cancer projects. The tournament, which is open to junior tennis boys/girls, men and women, will be held Saturday, June 28th and Sunday, June 29th at the Lexington County Tennis Complex, 425 Oak Drive, Lexington, S.C. All matches are played in accordance with the USTA rules and tournament regulations. Matches will be two sets with regular tie-break at six all. Events include NTRP single and doubles (3.0 and up) and JTL minor and major. Players are limited to two events. All players will receive a tournament t-shirt, homemade refreshments prepared by WIRE members and the opportunity to play at one of the most elite complexes in the southeast. Entry or withdrawal deadline is Wednesday, June 25 at 6:00 p.m. Proceeds from the event will help fund breast cancer projects including sponsoring WIRE’s scholarship program at “Becky’s Place” at Lexington Medical Center and annual Breast Cancer Survivors’ Celebration in October. The scholarships at “Becky’s Place” provides wigs and breast prostheses to women who cannot afford them. Entry fees for the tournament start at $25.
