USTA South Carolina has a 35-hour a week position open as Program Promotions Coordinator working out of the Columbia, South Carolina office.

Position Purpose/Mission:

To promote and develop the growth of tennis through the creation and expansion of tennis programs with Parks and Recreation Departments, colleges, community tennis associations, allied organizations (YMCA, Girl Scouts, Boys & Girls Club), clubs/facilities or other groups.  The Program Promotions Coordinator will provide support and assistance to the tennis professionals, coaches, tennis volunteers and enthusiasts in South Carolina through grants, training, materials, meetings, and workshops.

Job duties include travel throughout South Carolina meeting, recruiting, and training volunteers (both on and off the court) to be local program coordinators, promoting existing local tennis programs for expansion, planning and leading multiple state team playoffs and other special events and seeking ad sales for three association tennis publications and our web site (

Brief Position Description:

  • Recruit, train, develop, and manage volunteers, pros, clinicians, and tennis enthusiasts to serve the mission stated above.
  • Create new grassroots playing opportunities in targeted communities, including the establishment of follow up programs.
  • Facilitate the creation and implementation of programs/services to increase USTA members and overall tennis participation in South Carolina.
  • Work under the direction and supervision of the Community Development Department Head.
  • Work closely, as needed, with all departments, employees, volunteers, and partners of the USTA South Carolina.

Candidate Qualifications/Skills:

  • Willingness and ability to speak to large groups
  • Willingness and ability to be organized and multi-task
  • Willingness and ability to balance administrative duties with field responsibilities
  • Willingness and ability to work effectively with diverse groups and organizations
  • College Degree
  • USPTA or PTR Certification
  • Demonstrated ability with Windows-based computing, E-mail, and Microsoft Office (Word, Access, Excel and PowerPoint)
