Joey Eskridge
Joey went to Winthrop University where he was a walk on for the Men’s Varsity team for two and a half years. While attending Winthrop Joey served as the assistant coach for both the men and women’s teams. While serving as assistant coach the men’s team won the conference championship for the first time in school history. (Which shows that Joey is a better coach than player.)
Joey took the Head Professional position at South Beach Racquet Club. After a year and half at South Beach Joey took a Head Teaching Professional job with Van Der Meer Tennis University. After being at Van der Meer Tennis University for one year Joey was promoted to Director of Tennis at one of Van der Meer’s satellite locations. While at Van der Meer Joey became a National Tester and Clinician for the Professional Tennis Registry.
After two and half years at Van der Meer Tennis University Joey received the call from the I’On Club to come and take over the tennis department. Joey has been the Director of Tennis at the I’ On Club for the last six years and held some of the first informal pro league gatherings at the club. Joey was a player/captain of two 5.5 USTA National Championship teams and has been a Head coach for the High Performance program for the last three years. Joey served as one of the coaches for the Junior Davis Cup and fed Cup teams for South Carolina in 2005 and looks forward to doing it again in 2006.
