Job Description
Program Development Coordinator

Status: 40 hrs/wk salaried position reports to the Director of Community Development

Position Purpose / Mission:
To promote and develop the growth of tennis through the creation and expansion of tennis programs with schools, Parks and Recreation Departments, community tennis associations, allied organizations (YMCA, Girl Scouts, Boys & Girls Club), clubs/facilities or other groups.  The Program Development Coordinator provides support and assistance to tennis professionals, coaches, tennis volunteers and enthusiasts in South Carolina through grants, training, materials, meetings, and workshops.

Job Duties: Travel throughout South Carolina meeting, recruiting, and training (both on and off the court) volunteers to be local program coordinators, promote and support the expansion of existing local tennis programs, identify and support volunteers to lead new programs, coordinate state team playoffs and other special events.
Travel the state to recruit, train, develop, and manage volunteers, pros, clinicians, and tennis enthusiasts to serve the mission stated above.
Create new grassroots playing opportunities in targeted communities, including the establishment of follow up programs.
Facilitate the creation and implementation of programs/services to increase USTA members and overall tennis participation in South Carolina.
Work closely, as assigned, with all departments, employees, volunteers, and partners of the USTA South Carolina.
Act as liaison with Chairpersons of USTA South Carolina committees as assigned by Executive Director.
Solicit sponsorships (on a limited basis) for programs and events.
Minimum Qualifications:

Education/Certification: undergraduate degree desirable with PTR or USPTA certification or ability to achieve.
Experience: working knowledge of program development and implementation, public presentation and training skills, and success working with volunteers.
Skills: strong initiative and ability to problem solve to follow through on project goals, knowledgeable with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
Other: positive, enthusiastic attitude, upbeat personality, and ability to work smoothly as part of a team. Multi-tasking, creativity and time management a must.  Outstanding sales skills, customer service and project management are essential.
