What is USA Team Tennis (Youth)?

  • USA Team Tennis uses a team concept that emphasizes fun, fitness and friends.
  • The focus is on enjoying the exhilaration of exercise and refining the skills that make tennis fun at all ages and levels of competition.
  • USA Team Tennis teams consist of a minimum of six players, three boys and three girls.
  • Teams come from local leagues that have played in a minimum 6-week season with a practice and a match per week.
  • Leagues use the Junior National Tennis Rating Program to place players in appropriate divisions.

What are the different divisions and levels of USA Team Tennis (Youth)?

12 & under, Ralleyball, intermediate 3.0 & below, advanced 3.5 & above
14 & under division, intermediate 3.0 & below, advanced 3.5 & above
18 & under division, intermediate 3.0 & below, advanced 3.5 & above

When and What are the Regional Championships?

The 2005 Regional Championships sites and dates:

  1. Southeast - Daytona Beach, Florida - September 30 - October 2, 2005

Qualifying teams - 14 & under, intermediate and 18 & under, intermediate.  Two teams from each category qualify to participate from each USTA Section.

Format - flighted round robin, 2 out of 3 – 4 game sets with a 12-point tiebreaker for the 3rd set.  A match consists of a boy’s and girl’s singles match, a boy’s and girl’s doubles match and a mixed doubles match. The winner is determined by total games won.                  

USA Team Tennis Youth National Championship

The 2005 National Championships will be held on November 18 - 21, 2005 at the Randolph Tennis Center in Tuscon, Arizona.

Qualifying teams - 18 & under, advanced and 14 & under, advanced.  One team in each division qualify to participate from each USTA Section.

Format - flighted round robin format, 2 out of 3 – 6 game sets, no ad scoring. A match consists of a boy’s and girl’s singles match, a boy’s and girl’s doubles match and a mixed doubles match. The winner is determined by total games won.
