As the Family Circle Tennis Center Director, Rob Eppelsheimer, runs the day-to-day tennis operation for one of the finest tennis facilities in the southeast. His responsibilities include management of all aspects of the facility as it relates to tennis including retail sales in the pro shop, site maintenance, membership management and staffing.
Rob feels a very special connection to the City of Charleston. A College of Charleston graduate, he earned a degree in Business Finance and while attending the college and he competed on their tennis team as a scholarship player. Over the last twenty two years he has established himself in the tennis community as a true professional. Rob is a USPTA Certified Teaching Professional.
He started his career in tennis in 1983 as an Associate Tennis Professional for Wild Dunes Resort. In that position he served as Tournament Director for a number of USTA events. In 1986 he accepted a position as Director of Tennis at Litchfield By the Sea Resort. During his tenure there, Tennis Magazine named the club as a Top 50 Tennis Resort. As Director of Tennis Rob’s duties included teaching, programming (members & guests), pro shop operation, court maintenance and staffing.
In 1994 Wild Dunes Resort offered him a position of Tennis Director and Recreation Manager for the resort. As Tennis Director he was responsible for the day-to-day operation of the facility and as Recreation Manager he managed all aspects of the various resort amenities offered to club members and guests. In January of 1999 Rob was promoted to Recreation Director for the Wild Dunes Resort. In 2000, Tennis Magazine selected Wild Dunes as one of the Top 10 Tennis Resorts in the country. As Recreation Director, Rob’s major responsibility was overseeing the programming, operation and fiscal management of the tennis facility, club membership, summer recreation programs, corporate recreation, beach and pool services and Fitness Center.
In November of 2000, Rob joined the Family Circle Cup staff. He played an integral part in the design and construction of the Family Circle Tennis Center in preparation for the 2001 Family Circle Cup. As the Tennis Center Director, Rob has established a thriving club membership, a year round calendar of events, which   include tournaments and socials and over 60 USTA teams throughout the year. Over the last couple of years, he played an instrumental role in the City of Charleston securing bids for both the Southern Sectional Championships and the South Carolina BMW Combo Doubles Championships. The Family Circle Tennis Center served as tournament headquarters and host site for both of those top USTA events. Under his leadership, the Family Circle Tennis Center teaching staff has developed into one of the finest in the Southeast. Rob along with his teaching staff has created programming for all ages and ability levels with the focal point being the Junior Tennis Programs. Several junior tennis academy students have received collegiate tennis scholarships.
