Ronald (Ron) H. Charron is serving in his second year on the USTA- SC board, representing the Southeast Area. He is also in his second year as State League Coordinator for Senior USA League Tennis. He is a member of the Adult Leagues Committee, Adult Competition Council and the Building Committee.

Charron, a native of New Hampshire, began playing tennis in his late twenties for exercise and recreation but became more involved in the sport after moving to Mt. Pleasant, SC from Pittsburgh in 1993. At the local level, Charron is a member of the Board of Directors of the Lowcountry Tennis Association, where he serves as a level coordinator. He has been captain of his men’s 4.0 Adult team for several years and has captained and/or plays on Senior, Super Senior and Combo teams as well. He has played in a number of age group and NTRP tournaments around the state, winning a few singles and doubles titles.

Charron earned a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of New Hampshire in 1964 and a master’s degree in that field from the University of California at Berkeley in 1966. At the end of 2001, he retired after 35 years with the Bayer Corporation, where he served in a number of technical and managerial positions at various locations in the US and Europe.

Charron and his wife, Gail, play their tennis at Snee Farm Country Club, where he serves on the Board of Governors, representing men’s tennis. They have three children and four grandchildren.
