Thomas Foster of Woodruff, South Carolina, is in his second term as a presidential appointee to the Board.  He has served on the ranking committee for many years, has been and currently is chairman of the Senior Cup Committee and is the men’s Senior Cup team captain.  He has also served on the SC Tennis Patrons Foundation board.

Foster began playing USTA League tennis in 1980 and has played every year since on a team or teams.  He was a member of the Buschwackers team which made it to the Nationals in the 3.5, 4.0 and 4.5 levels between 1984 and 1990.  He continues to play at the 4.5 level on the regular, mixed and super senior teams.  He plays many of the senior tournaments throughout the South.

Foster graduated from the University of South Carolina in 1965 with a degree in Business Administration in accounting.  He served 3 years in the U.S. Army and worked 5 years with Burlington Industries before entering law school.  He received his JD degree in 1973.  His law practice was in Spartanburg, SC.  He was elected to the Family Court Bench in 1983 and served until he retired in 1998.  Retirement has allowed him to be an active worker for Habitat for Humanity and participant in many tennis tournaments.

Foster is married to Jane, an avid tennis player.  They have 3 children, 2 of which are tennis players, and 2 grandchildren.
