USA Team Tennis league play offers more than just fun for coaches and players—it offers security. While conducting USTA programs, employees, volunteers, officers, and directors of your organization, as well as USA Team Tennis coaches and administrators, are covered by USTA general liability insurance against claims from third parties alleging bodily injury or property damage. This coverage applies while they are acting within the authorized scope of USA Team Tennis activities.

The USTA’s policy provides USA Team Tennis with the following insurance:

  • Liability limits of $1,000,000 each occurrence of bodily injury and property damage claims.
  • Immediate medical payments of up to $5,000 for any injured third party other than participants.
  • Automobile non-ownership and rented vehicle liability insurance with limits of $1,000,000 for each accident.*

* The automobile liability coverage provides additional limits of liability above those carried on a personally owned or rented vehicle being used for the purpose of the USA Team Tennis program. USTA’s insurance company, however, requires that any vehicle used for the program carry at least a 100,000/$300,000 bodily injury and $50,000 property damage liability or a combined $300,000 single liability limit.

The USTA also strongly recommends substantially higher liability limits be obtained for vans and other similar vehicles. This is particularly important when children are being transported. USTA insurance does not provide Collision or Comprehensive insurance on any vehicle.

Combined Liability and Accident Insurance Plan
If your local tennis program anticipates holding activities in addition to USA Team Tennis programs, or if your program wishes to provide excess accident medical coverage for participants, consider purchasing additional insurance. The USTA makes available to USTA recreational organization members a Combined Liability and Accident Insurance Plan, which currently costs $3.15 per year per individual participant.

The above information is a brief outline only. Actual terms, conditions, and exclusions are contained in the policy documents.
