DIRECTIONS TO HILTON HEAD TENNIS SITES

1) SEA PINES RACQUET CLUB: Follow the William Hilton Parkway (Business HWY 278) or the Cross Island Expressway to the Sea Pines traffic circle. Turn onto Greenwood Drive to enter Sea Pines Plantation. After passing the guard gate, remain on Greenwood Drive until you see Plantation Drive. Turn right on Plantation Drive. Go to stop sign and turn right on Lighthouse Road. Go about 0.3 miles and you will see the Racquet Club on the left.

2) SEA PINES COUNTRY CLUB: You will enter Sea Pines Plantation on Greenwood Drive per above. After passing the guard gate begin looking for Governor's Road about 1.2 miles on your right. Sea Pines Country Club is located about 1 mile down Governor's Road. Entrance is well marked.

3) LONG COVE CLUB: Long Cove Club is located off of William Hilton Pkwy. (HWY 278) near the south end of the island. The entrance will be on your right if you are coming from off island or on your left if you are coming from Sea Pines. Turn into the plantation and after passing guard gate, you will go about 0.2 miles and turn right on Long Cove Drive and then left to get to the tennis center.

4) GOLDEN BEAR TENNIS CLUB AT INDIGO RUN: Indigo Run is located off of William Hilton Pkwy. (HWY 278) near the north central part of the island. When you turn into the plantation you will come to a traffic circle. Take the 2nd exit out of the circle onto Indigo Run Drive. After passing the guard gate, continue straight, looking for the sign for Sunningdale Park. You will turn left at that sign and then take 2nd right. This will take you down to the tennis center.

5) SOUTH CAROLINA YACHT CLUB: South Carolina Yacht Club is located in Windmill Harbour Plantation. You will find this plantation on your right just after crossing the two bridges onto Hilton Head Island. After passing the guard gate, turn right and this will take you down to the tennis center.

6) MOSS CREEK TENNIS CENTER: This is located in Moss Creek Plantation, which is on the mainland just before you get to the bridges leading to Hilton Head Island - on the left heading toward the island. After passing the guard gate, go about 1.5 miles to stop sign and turn right. Tennis center will be on your left.

7) COUNTRY CLUB OF HILTON HEAD: Turn off of William Hilton Pkwy. onto Gum Tree Road. It will be on your left when coming on the island or your right heading off island. Follow to the end and turn right onto Squire Pope Rd. Go about 0.3 miles to the gatehouse. From here, go another 0.4 miles and turn left onto Skull Creek Rd. Follow it to the Country Club on the right.

8) SOUTH BEACH TENNIS CLUB: Enter Sea Pines Plantation on Greenwood Drive and remain on Greenwood Dr. to the Fraser Circle. Exit the circle on the opposite side to continue on Greenwood. Follow to the end and turn right onto S. Sea Pines Drive. Follow this road about 1.5 miles to South Beach Tennis Club on the left.

Hilton Head Island - When you arrive, which way should you drive??

Hilton Head Island Mile Marker MapU. S. Route 278 is the only highway coming to Hilton Head Island. 278 extends all the way to I-95 (Exit #8). After you cross the large bridge (which spans the Intercoastal Waterway), you are now on the Island. About 2 miles onto the Island, you'll see signs for the New Cross Island Parkway, (stay in the left lanes) or Business 278 (stay in the right lanes). Until 1998, Business 278 was the only way you could go. It was the only road traversing the Island, and ended at Sea Pines Circle. The speed limit is 45 mph, and there are many stoplights along the way. It used to take between 25 & 30 minutes to get to the Sea Pines Circle on Business 278. With the new Cross Island Parkway (speed limit 55 mph and no lights), it now takes only 5-6 minutes to get to Sea Pines Circle. The new Parkway is about 6 miles long, and there is a $1 toll. The toll booth is located just before you cross Broad Creek.

If you are going to stay in Shipyard Plantation, Long Cove or Wexford, along North or South Forest Beach Drive, or anywhere in Sea Pines Plantation, you will get there much quicker by using the Cross Island Parkway.

If you are going to Indigo Run, Hilton Head Plantation, Palmetto Hall, Beach & Tennis Resort or Port Royal Plantation, it is best to use Business 278.

If you are going to Palmetto Dunes, it's kind of a toss-up. Under normal traffic conditions, it's probably no faster to use the Cross Island Parkway. On the other hand, if there is an accident on Business 278 in the direction you are going, and you haven't yet reached Palmetto Dunes, you may want to turn around and get on the Cross Island Parkway.

Either way you go, take your time, drive safely, and enjoy our beautiful Island.
