Adaptive Tennis Volunteer of the Year

The person who contributes the most to Adaptive Tennis in the state and provides time and leadership in this capacity. This award was formerly known as Special Olympics Volunteer of the Year.

Dave Andes

David Andes and his wife Katherine have been playing USTA league tennis for over 28 years, but their tennis involvement extends beyond Leagues.

One player from their adaptive team was chosen to represent South Carolina in the 2018 USA Games in Special Olympics. They have organized and hosted four Tennis Jamborees in partnership with Newberry College Tennis Team. These three hour tennis events include instruction at all levels, music and dancing, food, exhibition and unified doubles competition.

Dave enjoys creating a fun and safe environment for his players. For those who live at home with their parents, he enjoys putting on a solid program that the parents can feel good about.
