The championship teams can now represent South Carolina at the USTA Southern Mixed Doubles Sectional Championships, scheduled for next month in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

More than 1,500 South Carolina league players, ranging in skill from near beginner to longtime player, participated in the state championships, which were held at four Florence facilities: Dr. Eddie Floyd Florence Tennis Center, Timrod Park, Florence Country Club and West Florence High School.

Established in 1980, the USTA League program has grown from 13,000 participants competing regionally to more than 865,000 participants playing across the country, making it the world’s largest recreational tennis league.

USTA League was established to provide adult recreational tennis players throughout the country with the opportunity to compete against players of similar ability levels. Players participate on teams in a league format, which is administered by the USTA through its 17 sections. USTA League is open to any USTA member 18 years of age or older.
