Midlands Flex League Champions and Finalists

Flex_Leagues_Logo_lbThe Columbia/Lexington Spring Flex League has finished, and a dozen Columbia and Lexington tennis players will be receiving prizes for their strong play throughout the season.

Men and women competed in singles and doubles divisions from 3.0 to 4.0 and up during the season, which was played at various parks and clubs around the Midlands.

With Flex Leagues, matches take place wherever is most convenient for the players. The players compete whenever is most convenient for them, too. Flex Leagues truly cater to players’ schedules.

Registration is currently open for the Columbia/Lexington Fall Flex League. The following flights are forming: men's singles 3.0, 3.5, and 4.0 and up; women's singles 2.5, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0; women's doubles 2.5, 3.0, 3.5, and 4.0; and mixed doubles 6.5 and 7.5.

The season will run from Sept. 6 to Nov. 23, and registration closes Aug. 31. Once the flights have formed, players typically receive a schedule of six to eight matches to be played over two months. Click here to visit the Columbia/Lexington USTA SC Flex League site and to register.

Below are the spring season champions and finalists:

3.0 women's singles: Beth McCorkle

3.0 women's doubles: Sally Patterson and Molly Boozer

3.5 men – four finalists: Michael Burchstead; Ken Henry; Stephen Dilworth; Emilio Vicente

3.5 women's singles finalists: Amy Rochelle Barnes; Shelley Adams

3.5 women's doubles: Janet Boland and Vivian Lee Ryan

Men's 4.0 and up: Trey Kannaday
