August 28, 2015 03:21 PM

At the Mixed Doubles League State Championships this weekend in Florence, 131 teams will compete for chances to advance to USTA Southern sectional championships.

Earlier, Lyn Hibino, captain of "Mix and Match," a 40 & Over 8.0 team representing the Columbia Tennis League, kindly told us about her team. Hibino told us why she loves mixed doubles and what makes "Mix and Match" unique.

How long has your team been playing together?

About half of us have been together 3 or more seasons.

Where do you all play your home matches?

Parklane.

What do you especially like about mixed doubles tennis?

I captain and play mixed because it's my favorite and I LOVE being able to play with my husband :)

What do you like best about USTA South Carolina league tennis?

The social aspect of league tennis, meeting new people, introducing people to tennis, playing with friends and putting winning teams together!

What are you most looking forward to about the upcoming championships?

Playing with my husband, the competition, and being with great players/great friends!

The one thing that makes your team unique?

The friendships and teamwork....everyone on the team are team players and want what's best for the team!!

Good luck to all of our teams playing this weekend!
