Columbia Flex League Participant Wins National Grand Prize

One USTA Flex League participant in Columbia has won more than just a few tennis matches this year.  The lucky lady, whose identity was announced at the Columbia Tennis League Pre-Season Tournament Cookout, won round trip airfare for two, two nights stay, two sets of tickets to US Open sessions, a guided tour of the grounds, and a $250 gift card for food and souvenirs while at the Open.

Rebecca Payne was shocked when her name was called by Graham Cox, USTA South Carolina Deputy Executive Director, but quickly moved to claim her prize. Payne, a 2.5 Flex League participant, was randomly chosen from all USTA Flex League participants across the US.  In addition to the grand prize, USTA South Carolina assembled a goody bag for Payne, which included a USTA SC shirt, visor, and umbrella so she can look good and stay cool in style at the US Open.

The USTA Flex Leagues are a great opportunity for players whose schedule doesn't allow for play in traditional leagues.  Flex Leagues allow you and your opponents to set your own schedule, meaning you play when it's convenient for you.  There currently are USTA Flex Leagues in both Charleston and Columbia in our state. Each program has multiple seasons each year. For more information on Flex Leagues in South Carolina, you can contact Graham Cox, USTA SC Deputy Executive Director, at
