Columbia, S.C. - On Wednesday March 23rd, the weather gods were smiling down on the Cayce Tennis Center, where Orthotic and Prosthetic Activities Foundation and USTA South Carolina Wheelchair Tennis held an instructional clinic. Tennis teaching pros, Physical therapists, and wheelchair athletes along with their friends and family experienced tennis in a unique and challenging setting.

Karin Korb, a former Paralympian wheelchair tennis champion presided over the lecture and on court training. There was a buzz in the air as Korb encouraged each one of us whether we were first timers or seasoned wheelchair tennis players.

Korb’s mantra is to “constantly challenge and push yourself, and make an effort to get out of your “comfort zone.” Also to, “stay positive; forgive yourself of your mistakes and move on”.

There were no negative phrases uttered from our lips. We instead had smiles, high fives and determination in our hearts. The next OPAF and USTA Wheelchair Tennis clinic is scheduled for June 28th at the Rock Hill Tennis Facility.
