Over 900 tennis players from across the state are expected to take part in the 2017 U.S. Tennis Association Adult 40 & Over League State Championships, which will be held May 6-8 in Florence, SC.

The Dr. Eddie Floyd Tennis Center is the official host site of the championships. Florence Country Club, West Florence High School, Timrod Park Tennis Courts and Ebenezer Park also will host matches.

“The championships are a great opportunity to show off a place that we love,” said Ed Sprenger, Vice President of the Florence Tennis Association and Tournament Chairman. “We make the players feel welcome by hosting a player party Friday night with a DJ and dancing. This year, we plan to have a dance floor under the stars.”

The three-day event will feature teams from all over the state, including Aiken, Beaufort/Bluffton, Charleston, Columbia, Florence, Greenville, Hilton Head Island, Lexington, Myrtle Beach, Rock Hill and Spartanburg.

Sprenger is looking forward to hosting the Championships again.  “It lets people who may not come to Florence see another part of the state that they don’t often come to.”

The 40 & Over League State Championship play starts Saturday, May 6 and finishes Monday, May 8. For more information, click here.
