Player's Blog from Senior League Championships

Friday, May 18
Well, as the captains and players rolled into Hilton Head for the Captains’ Meeting on Friday the skies opened up with a bang!  Rain dampened the evening’s events, but the player’s reception went on.  I left before they started, but I’m pretty sure the pro’s exhibition went on after the fanfabulous crew at Palmetto Dunes pulled out the barrel rollers to dry the clay courts.

It’s been a busy day of playing today.  The team did pretty well our first match.  We won two and one, and only dropped two sets, so our destiny is in our hands.  We start bright and early tomorrow morning, although I won’t be playing till the afternoon.  Hopefully we can get a strong push and put ourselves in place to make the semis.

What a funfabulous weekend it was!!!  My 4.5 team won our division undefeated!!!'. I made my senior state debut with a true victory!!!  Played some awesome tennis players from Pee Dee who brought out the very best in did my partner Suzanne Gray!!!  We won again!!
So Monday morning at 10am.....Finals here we come!  And oh joy!  Nice surprise to find our CTL 4.5 guys playing at the same courts!  We played a very tough Hilton Head team who actually made it to nationals last year!  They barely beat us 2-1. Oh well!  We had an awesome run against awesome players all weekend!!!
Our CTL guys on the other hand, pulled out a huge win against an extremely tough Greenville team!  Go Tommy and Bernie and Jim and Marshall and Glenn... and the rest of their teammates!!  You are the best looking bunch of state champs ever!!!
I would like to extend a big thank you to all of the superstar USTA SC officials who made this event so spectacular!  You are ALL awesome!!!!
But most of all, I would like to thank my captain Suzanne Gray and her co-captain Julia White for a job well done!  Thanks for all the effort you put into this team!!  We only made this far because of you and you and your incredible tennis brains!  Love you! Mean it!  See you on the court!!!
